Power crowned a brilliant year when recording a Group 3 and Listed double at Newbury with a pair of promising juveniles on Saturday.
First up the Ralph Beckett-trained Pleaseletmewin (2g Power-Jacaranda Ridge, by Indian Ridge) prevailed in a competitive 13-runner renewal of the G3 Horris Hill Stakes.
The classy juvenile, bred by Ballykilbride Stud, was always prominent before hitting the front a furlong out and coming home two and a quarter lengths clear of the field (pictured).
“Pleaseletmewin is very versatile as he has won on soft, Polytrack and firm ground,” said Beckett. ”He was just too fresh at Newmarket last time. I don´t know what we will do with him next year.”
Shortly afterwards, it was the turn of the William Haggas-trained Cristal Fizz (2f Power-Effervesce, by Galileo) to advertise the talents of Power as a stallion.
The unbeaten filly landed a cosy victory in the Listed Radley Stakes and looks a live Classic contender for next year.
The filly, bred by Norelands Bloodstock, won an Ascot maiden on her debut in September and has subsequently been sold privately to Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum.
“She is not the greatest home worker and it was a surprise when she won on her debut,” said Haggas. “She did it well today, and having won this Listed race we will have to look upwards next year.”
