The Rebecca-Curtis-trained O’Faolains Boy (7g Oscar-Lisa´s Storm, by Glacial Storm) is to be aimed at the G1 RSA Chase at Cheltenham after he brought a G2 success for Oscar at Ascot on Saturday.
The seven-year-old, who finished fourth in last season’s G1 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle, took the G2 RSA Trial Novices’ Chase by two and a half lengths under Barry Geraghty and Curtis feels there is better to come.
“He was wrong (on his previous start) at Haydock and scoped desperately after the race. Because of that he should come on an awful lot for today’s run he can now go straight to the RSA Chase,” Curtis told the Racing Post.
“He’s a lovely horse and we’ve always thought he could make a really nice three-mile chaser. Hopefully it will now be onwards and upwards with him.”
O’Faolains Boy, who was bred by Tom and P Phelan, won a point-to-point before being sold for £100,000 to join Curtis’s stable in April 2012.
