Ms Parfois (Mahler) winning a Listed chase at Newbury

Parfois wins black-type for Mahler

Progressive and ultra-tough mare Ms Parfois (6m Mahler-Dolly Lewis, by Sir Harry Lewis) returned five days after her success at Cheltenham to win a Listed chase at Newbury on Wednesday.

The daughter of Mahler won a handicap under a big weight at Cheltenham on Friday and stepped up in grade for the Listed TBA Novices’ Chase over just shy of three miles at Newbury.

Noel Fehily was always prominent aboard the six-year-old and stayed on well to win by three and a half lengths to the delight of trainer Anthony Honeyball.

“Ms Parfois is a lovely big scopey mare for a track like this,” said Honeyball. “She jumps great and is as genuine as they come, but will pull herself up in front. As well as the mares' events next season we could actually go for a Peter Marsh because she goes on soft. We wouldn't do it this year and will give her time, but she's got experience now.”

Ms Parfois was bred by William and Daryl Deacon.
