The Reaper (4g Footstepsinthesand-Lady Gregory, by In The Wings), trained by Ger Lyons, looks a sprinter to follow this year following his Listed success at Cork on Sunday.

The consistent son of Footstepsinthesand has finished in the first three on 17 of his 24 starts and faced 14 rivals in the Listed Cork Stakes. He battled hard to land the six-furlong contest from Experience (3f Excellent Art-Kloonlara, by Green Desert) and is set to step up in class next time our.

“I’m delighted with that as he deserved it, he had been knocking on the door,” Lyons’ brother and assistant, Shane, told www.irishracing.com. “He went to Dubai and collected a few cheques, his form was rock solid over there. He will go for stakes races now.

“I’m delighted for his owner Sean Jones, who is our main owner. He should have an awful lot of fun with this fellow. He will go for the G2 Duke of York Stakes next (at York on May 17).”

The Reaper was bred by Michael Smith and bought for €40,000 as a yearling at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale by Ger Lyons.
