Relegate claims G2 for Flemensfirth

Trainer Willie Mullins is considering a tilt at the G1 Weatherbys Champion Bumper with Relegate (5m Flemensfirth-Last Of The Bunch, by Silver Patriarch) following the five-year-old’s G2 win at Leopardstown on Sunday.

A winner on her debut at Punchestown in January, the Flemensfirth mare was driven out by Katie Walsh to win the G2 Coolmore NH Sires Irish EBF INH Flat Race by a length and a half.

“That run was good enough for me to go to Cheltenham because she has improved so much from her first run to her second run and I'm expecting her to improve more,” said Mullins. “We've no decision made although we have a better mare than we thought we had now.”

Appropriately given the sponsor, there was a G2 1-2-3-4 for Coolmore NH sires with Getaway Katie Mai (5m Getaway-Carrigmoorna Style, by Dr Massini) in second, Colreevy (5m Flemensfirth-Poetics Girl, by Saddlers' Hall) taking third, and Tintangle (5m Yeats-Connaught Hall, by Un Desperado) one place further back.
