Rip Van Winkle Leading First Season Sire at Karaka

High class Galileo son Rip Van Winkle hit the mark at the NZB Premier Yearling Sale with 28 yearlings from his first Southern Hemisphere bred crop averaging $132,500, giving him the title of leading first season sire by average.

His top seller came on Tuesday with a glorious colt from Dulcine’e fetching $375,000 for Blandford Lodge when secured by Ellerslie Lodge and Bryce Heys.

He is the first foal of Dulcine’e, an unraced half-sister by Pins to Group II She Will be Loved from the family of Group I winner All Thrills Too.

His top filly made $270,000 for Haunui Farm when purchased by John Chalmers Bloodstock and is the second foal of stakes-winner Striker.
