Rock at the black-type double

Rock Of Gibraltar bagged two more Listed successes on Sunday via a pair of impressive winners at Chester and Newbury. The Tracey Collins-trained Rock Jock (4g Rock Of Gibraltar-Perfect Touch, by Miswaki) took the six-furlong Listed Queensferry Stakes at Chester by a length and a quarter for another well deserved big-race success. “That’s my first win in Britain we’ve had a few go close in the past but I’m just delighted to see this one win especially since his owner Jimmy Long has flown in especially from Dubai to see him run,” Collins told www.racingpost.com “The horse has been very unlucky on occasions including when drawn on the wrong side on Derby day at the Curragh last month and he deserves to win a nice race.” At Newbury it was the turn of Sea Of Heartbreak (4f Rock Of Gibraltar-Top Forty, by Rainbow Quest) to show off her talents when winning the Listed Chalice Stakes over a mile and a quarter. The Roger Charlton-trained filly, who was bred by the late David Hardisty and races for his wife Liz, score by a length and a quarter. Charlton’s assistant, Tom Grantham, told Press Association Sport: Charlton is on holiday, but his assistant, Tom Grantham, said: “She deserved that. She saw out every yard of the mile and a half and I expect the boss will find her a G3 now, perhaps abroad. I'm so pleased for her owner-breeder Liz Hardisty, as her husband David died last year.” Jockey Steve Drowne added: “They didn't go very quick early on and she's just a lovely, straightforward filly. You'd have to go for a Group race now, and there's often not much difference between a Listed and a Group race. I could easily see her being placed in a Group 1.”
