Royal Ascot-bound debutant Argentero another winner for Zoffany

Argentero (2c Zoffany-Frabjous, by Pivotal) looked another high-class first-crop runner for Zoffany when overcoming trouble in running to score on his debut at Naas on Monday evening. The Ger Lyons-trained colt was short of room before bursting clear in the final furlong to win by three and a quarter lengths. “The word I’d use to describe this horse is professional from the first day he came in. Everything we asked him he did it,” Lyons told irishracing.com. “I told Colin (Keane) to take his time and teach him his job. He handled that ground but would want better ground. “Obviously at this time of the year you’d be thinking about Royal Ascot, and hopefully he’s one of those. I’d like to go for a winners’ race next with this fella. He’ll learn plenty from that with all the hustle and bustle he got into between horses.” Argentero, who was bred by Maywood Stud, cost £50,000 as a yearling and he was winning four days after Washington DC (2c Zoffany-How´s She Cuttin´, by Shinko Forest) looked another Royal Ascot prospect for Zoffany when scoring at Tipperary.
