Rubick Weanlings Prove Popular

Weanlings by Encosta de Lago’s brilliant sprinting son Rubick proved popular at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale this week selling for up to $130,000. Holbrook Thoroughbreds consigned his top seller, a filly from Chase the Dame that was bought by Redwall Bloodstock.

Not far behind was a colt from Freezethemillions that made $110,000 for Yarramalong Park when snapped up by renowned pinhookers Musk Creek Farm.

Coolmore Australia stud manager Jim Carey was pleased with the way the market received the first crop weanlings by Rubick. “It was particularly satisfying to see the first of the Rubick foals sell so well today,” Carey told ANZ Bloodstock News. “It’s a huge compliment to the horse to see the names of those people that have bought them – Redwall and Widden, Sheamus Mills, Sledmere, Rick Connolly, Julian Blaxland and others. “Everyone seems to want a Rubick and the early consensus is that they look like natural early runners. There is a good buzz about him around the complex and I think he’s a horse that is going to make a big impression at the yearling sales in 2018.”

Rubick had 18 weanlings sell at an average $45,306 achieving a very high clearance of over 94%.
