After two sessions of the 2018 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, exciting young sire Rubick is third on the list of first season sires by average and off a fee of $17,600 is punching well above his weight with an average price of $166,786!
His top seller so far has been a cracking colt from Our Songbird that made $470,000 for Segenhoe Stud when secured by Jadeskye Racing/ Brad Widdup Racing.
“We’re really, really pleased to get him. Brad Widdup and I went around the whole complex looking for one, because obviously I raced Rubick and he’s probably the best colt on the ground for me,” Damion Flower told ANZ Bloodstock News.
“He’s from a really good family as well, nice and stout and he just reminded me a little bit of Rubick himself. A lovely colour, nice conformation and I was really pleased to get him.”
The star colt outsold his own sire Rubick, who was bought from Magic Millions in 2013 for $460,000. He is the first foal of Our Songbird, a winning half-sister to juvenile stakes-winners Debonairly and Corsaire.
The sale continues.
