Runaway Declaration Of War winner one for UAE Classics?

The Sir Mark Prescott-trained On The Warpath (2c Declaration Of War-Elusive Pearl, by Medaglia d’Oro) could barely have won more easily when running away with a maiden in Britain this week.

The first-crop Declaration Of War colt cruised clear of his opponents in the seven-furlong contest on Southwell's all-weather surface and, despite being eased down by jockey Luke Morris at the finish, still won by two and three-quarter lengths.

“That was a nice, smooth performance. On The Warpath is a lovely big horse and he's only going to improve for another winter on his back. I hope he'll go on to better things next year,” said Morris. Meanwhile, the Racing Post speculated that a trip to Meydan early next year for one of the Classic races might suit this facile winner. “ON THE WARPATH loved this surface, showing loads of speed to gradually pull well clear and just coasting home, never having to be asked to run. Might his connections be tempted to take a flyer at the UAE Classics? This track isn't that far removed from what he'd face at Meydan and he could be a major force out there,” commented form expert Ron Wood. Watch On The Warpath's impressive win here.
