Scorpion 4yo strikes in €100,000 Bumper

Very Much So (by Scorpion) with his winning connections after winning the Goffs Land Rover Bumper at Punchestown

The Willie Mullins-trained Very Much So (4g Scorpion-Lady Apprentice, by Phardante) looked an exciting prospect when winning an ultra-competitive renewal of the €100,000 Goffs Land Rover Bumper at Punchestown on Tuesday.

Mullins admitted that he was concerned that the Brian Doran-bred Scorpion half-brother to G1 winner Jessies Dream may be lacking in experience to score on his debut.

“I was hoping he’d run well but didn’t think he’d do that,” said Mullins, after the four-year-old’s comfortable success under Johnny Burke. “He’s very green and immature and that’s probably the first bit of work he’s ever won.”
