Scorpion had a pair of young winners on Saturday who look to have bright futures after Sir Scorpion (6g Scorpion-Lady Goldilocks, by Mister Lord) triumphed at Leopardstown and Score Card (5g Scorpion-Auditing Empress, by Accordion) captured a Doncaster bumper.
The Tom Mullins-trained Sir Scorpion (pictured), bred by Aisling Fitzpatrick, ran out a well-backed handicap hurdle winner in J P McManus’s colours and he is set to reappear at one of the Irish Festival meetings.
“He should come on again from that run as it was his first handicap and we’ll probably aim him at Fairyhouse and Punchestown,” said Mullins.
Meanwhile, the Henry Daly-trained Score Card looked a future smart jump prospect when becoming Scorpion’s latest bumper winner.
The five-year-old, bred by Neill Doran, is a half-brother to useful hurdler Kris Spin. He is out of a half-sister to Woolcombe Folly and hails from the family of top chaser Cahervillahow.
Scorpion is standing for €4,000 at Castlehyde Stud in 2015.
