Second Stakes for Scat Daddy Filly

Celestine (Scat Daddy) winning at Gulfstream

Progressive filly Celestine (3f Scat Daddy x Mona Mia, by Monarchos) scored a stylish victory in the $98,000 Wait a While Stakes at Belmont on the weekend.

Previously trained by Bill Kaplan, Celestine is now with Bill Mott and was having her first run for her new trainer in the seven furlong turf sprint, emerging triumphant in scoring by a length and a half.

“She’s just a lovely filly, a beautiful filly,” said Mott.

“She does everything right. She’s pretty and she’s fast. She came to us in very good shape. Mr. Kaplan had her down in Florida and he stays in Florida, so I was the lucky recipient of her up here. But she came to us in good shape, and we had just hoped she would run as well for us as she did for him.”

A $100,000 Keeneland September Yearling, that passed in at the OBS June 2YO Sale at $975,000, Celestine runs for James Bryan and has won three of six starts earning over $140,000.

Now a two time stakes-winner, she is a half-sister to stakes-placed Haunted Heroine from minor winner Mona Mia.
