Improving filly Ante Up Annie (3f Majestic Warrior x Always Annie’s by Regal Intention) made it three wins in a row when posting her first Black Type success in the $58,800 Sarah Lane’s Oates Stakes at Fair Grounds.
Prepared by Dallas Stewart, she broke her maiden just before Christmas and then won an allowance last month before stepping up to 1m 70yds for this tougher assignment.
Sent out favourite, Ante Up Annie tracked along the rail in third place before moving wide to issue her challenge.
She forged clear to win by half a length and has now won three of five starts with prizemoney of $88,680.
Ante Up Annie is the best of three winners from stakes-placed Always Annie’s, a half-sister to Grade III winner Grace for You and stakes-winners Ronaldino and Huitzilopochtli.
She is also the second stakes-winner for exciting young sire Majestic Warrior, whose oldest progeny are three year-olds.
