Shattered Love (Yeats) winning the G3 Kerry Group Irish EBF Novice Chase at Cork

Shattered Love claims G3 chase for Yeats

Shattered Love (6m Yeats-Tracker, by Bustino), a facile winner of novice chases in October and November, stepped up to Grade 3 company at Cork on Sunday to bag a black-type success. The Yeats mare, who was already a G3 winner over hurdles and Graded-placed in bumpers, made all to win the G3 Kerry Group Irish EBF Novice Chase at Cork by 10 lengths from La Bella Vida (5m Westerner-Molo River, by Fourstars Allstar).

Shattered Love is trained by Gordon Elliott for Gigginstown House Stud and Davy Condon, assistant to Elliott, reported that the Limetree Stud-bred mare will eventually be tried in G1 company.

"She was very good again and obviously the trip, going back to two miles, was a concern although the ground helped,” said Condon.  "Jack (Kennedy) said she had no problem handling the ground and never came out of third gear. She quickened away from the last and won well. "She can only beat what's in front of her but she was impressive. We think she's a Grade 1 mare but she might have to take on the geldings to get that win."
