Speedy filly She’s a Tiger (2f Tale of the Cat x Shandra Smiles, by Cahill Road) took a quantum leap in class to win the $150,500 Landaluce Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park on the weekend.
A runaway nine length winner on debut at the Pleasanton Fair, the Jeff Bonde trained filly handled the class rise to Black Type company with a tenacious display, pushing forward to lead and then defying all challengers to win the six furlong sprint by three-quarters of a length.
“They went very fast and everybody who tried to chase her paid the price,” said Jeff Bonde.
“E Equalsmcsquared (runner-up) came with a good charge late. My filly got tired, but she still ran well. I think she’s a really good horse, I really do.”
A $150,000 Keeneland September purchase, She’s a Tiger is a three-quarter sister to triple Grade I winner Smiling Tiger and is one of four winners from stakes-winner Shandra Smiles.
She’s a Tiger has the honour of being the 90th stakes-winner for accomplished shuttle sire Tale of the Cat.
