Skelton 4yo winner for Getaway

A good run for Getaway continued when Getaway Whiskey (4g Getaway-Irish Whiskey, by Westerner) stormed away with a Catterick bumper on Wednesday.

The four-year-old, trained by Dan Skelton and ridden by his brother Harry, came home eight lengths clear of the field in the colours of Paul and Clare Rooney.

The Racing Post commented: “The odds-on favourite was different gear in this bumper. GETAWAY WHISKEY landed a plunge with a most convincing display. He travelled well in a better heat on similar going at Worcester on his debut and again moved easily for most of this race. The 4yo was very raw once sent on, suggesting plenty more to come for the added experience, and the future looks bright.”

Getaway Whiskey was bred by Martin Cullinane.
