Smart debut bumper winner for Scorpion

The Stuart Crawford-trained Knocklayde Express (5m Scorpion-Aupora, by Bob Back) made a stylish winning debut at Kelso on Thursday to bring more success for Scorpion.

Home-bred by Colm McHenry, the mare saw off 11 rivals to win a competitive bumper and looks set to make her mark over jumps.

The trainer’s brother Steven, who was in the saddle, told the Racing Post: “Knocklayde Express is a tough mare who really wants further. She´s going to make a nice jumper.”
