A full sister to stakes-winner Dizlago, lightly raced filly Lucky Lago (3f Encosta de Lago x Dizelle, by Zabeel) opened her account with a powerful two length win at Warwick Farm on Anzac Day.
The John O’Shea trained daughter of Encosta de Lago had to overcome gate 15 in a field of 16, but rose to the challenge when surging clear to win the 1400 metre maiden by two lengths.
Lucky Lago was having just her second start after finishing second on debut at Hawkesbury two weeks ago.
A homebred for Keith Biggs that was withdrawn from the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Lucky Lago is the second winner for Group I AJC Australian Oaks winner Dizelle, a full sister to Champion HK Stayer and international Group I winner Vengeance of Rain.
A top quality racemare and producer, Dizelle is now in foal to Fastnet Rock.
Encosta de Lago made it a two state double when his talented four year-old son Decircles (4g Encosta de LAgo x Lady Circles by AScot Knight) scored at Flemington over 1200 metres.
Encosta de Lago stands this season at Coolmore at a fee of $55,000.
