One of the more interesting winners at Warwick Farm on Wednesday was Hold Me Closer (3f Danehill Dancer x Intertwined, by Sir Tristram), who made it two wins on the trot when bolting in with the opening race.
The Tim Martin trained filly shook off maiden status at her previous start with a facile win at Canberra last month and quickly translated that good form to town for a dominant two and a half length win in the 1400 metre restricted event.
Hold Me Closer was a modest $30,000 purchase for Coolmore Sales and Nominations consultant Shane McGrath from the Coolmore draft at the 2011 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale and runs in similar ownership to former smart Fastnet Rock filly Cindarockinrella, who was also prepared by Tim Martin.
“I bought her in June and she races for most of the previous owners in Cindarockinrella as well as Graham Watson and two Irish guys who are racing their first ever horse in Keith Callahan and Tom Neylon,” said Shane McGrath.
“It is amazing what the winning feeling can do, they are already looking to buy another one.”
From the second last Australian crop of foals sired by outstanding shuttle sire Danehill Dancer, Hold Me Closer also picked up a valuable pedigree update last weekend as she is a half-sister to stakes-winner How Funny, who is the dam of Jester’s Girl, winner of the Listed Tatts Travel Associates Classic at Eagle Farm last Saturday.
So it’s happening on all fronts for Hold Me Closer and her lucky group of owners.
