So You Think just Champion with 8th G1 success

Globetrotting superstar So You Think (5h High Chaparral-Triassic, by Tights) recorded an amazing eight G1 victory at Leopardstown on Saturday night when winning the G1 Irish Champion Stakes. The son of High Chaparral fought out a determined Snow Fairy, herself a four-time G1 winner, to land the 10-furlong contest in good style. “He’s a good horse and that was a good filly,” said Coolmore’s John Magnier after the race. “He’s no different here to what he was in Australia and we just wanted the people up here to see what he’s like so it makes him a real dual-hemisphere horse. That’s a rare type of horse. “That day at Ascot (when second in the G1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes) wasn’t one of our best days but other than that this horse’s record is there for everyone to see. “This is the type of horse for whom we’re spoilt for options so where he’ll go I don’t know. He could run in the mile race at Ascot (G1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes), the mile and a quarter race there (G1 Champion Stakes) or the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. It will be one of those races I’d guess but we’re not going to rush into making a decision.” Winning trainer Aidan O’Brien, speaking to www.racingpost.com, added: “It's a long time since he ran. We gave him a good break since the last day and we were a bit worried about that. “We knew he'd be there to be shot at and Snow Fairy would stalk and that they would have her spot on. He was very professional when she put it up to him. He's getting more relaxed and mature and you could see that in the parade ring. “We'll go home and discuss what we do next but he can do anything because he cruises through his races. He's an incredible specimen, big and powerful and an unbelievable thoroughbred to look at.”
