Few stallions have had the sort of global impact achieved by champion sire Giant’s Causeway who added a new Grade I winner to his tally at the weekend when Argentinean bred filly Blueridge Mountain (3f Giant’s Causeway x Skyline Drive View, by Distant View) captured the Klawervlei Majorca Stakes at Kenilworth in South Africa.
Trained by Gary Alexander for prominent owner Markus Jooste, Blueridge Mountain had previously won the Grade II Sceptre Stakes and raised the bar again for this assignment winning the 1600 metre feature by half a length.
Blueridge Mountain has the overall record of three wins and two seconds from just six starts and is a filly on the up.
A blue-blooded fill from a fabulous international family, Blueridge Mountain is the first stakes-winner for Skyline Drive View, a grand-daughter of stakes-winner Anne Campbell, whose descendants include Grade I winners Desert Wine, Menifee, Les Arcs, Fasliyev and Misty for Me.
She becomes the 25th Grade I winner worldwide for Giant’s Causeway.
