Classy staying colt Golden Leaf (3c Stay Thirsty x Leaf Storm, by Woodman) scored a dominant win in the Grade I Clasico Derby Nacional at Hipodromo de Monterrico in Peru on Sunday.

Trained by Juan Suarez, he raced away over the concluding stages to win the 2400 metre dirt classic by three lengths.

It was the third win from four starts for the son of Stay Thirsty, who had previously won the Grade I Clasico Ricardo Ortiz de Zevallos.

The first Grade I winner for Stay Thirsty, he is the best of six winners from Leaf Storm, a half-sister by Woodman to US Grade I winner Monzante.
