Stakes Potential for Fastnet Rock Colt

Progressive colt Royal Navy (3c Fastnet Rock x Park Esteem, by Singspiel) made a swift transition from winning a modest maiden to saluting in metropolitan company at Rosehill on Saturday. The Peter and Paul Snowden trained colt appears to be on an upward spiral and swept home from off the pace to win the Benchmark 72 event over 1400 metres by a length and a half. “He’s such a laid back customer, he’s really looking for further,” said Peter Snowden. “He’s racing like he works now and it might be a bit ambitious, but I’m thinking about the Spring Stakes (1600m) in a fortnight for him.”

A $350,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Cressfield draft for John Warren and Tom Magnier, Royal Navy runs for Coolmore and partners.

He is a three-quarter brother to stakes-winners Great Esteem and High Esteem and is the fifth winner from five foals to race from Park Esteem (IRE), a half-sister to Group I winner Central Park and to the dam of Dubai World Cup winner Moon Ballad. Park Esteem was covered last year by Coolmore young gun Pride of Dubai.
