Lightly raced filly Bow Bells (3f Giant’s Causeway x Marylebone, by Unbridled’s Song) scored a resounding win in the $61,200 Twin Lights Stakes at Monmouth at the weekend.
The Todd Pletcher trained filly was an impressive debut winner last season at two, but was sidelined with issues subsequently.
She resumed with an unplaced run in June, before bouncing back to win easily on July 19 and then stripped at her top for this assignment.
Bow Bells powered clear over the concluding stages for Christopher De Carlo to win the 1 and 1/8th mile contest on turf by more than four lengths.
“She trains really well here,” said Anthony Sciametta Jr., Monmouth-based assistant to trainer Todd Pletcher.
“Synthetic and turf, that seems to be the trick to her. A[Jockey] Chris [DeCarlo] rode a great race. She’s got a real good turn of foot when you ask her.”
Raced by Michael Tabor, Bow Bells is the first stakes-winner for Grade I Belmont Matron Stakes winner Marylebone, a sister to the dam of Grade II winner Alpha Kitten.
She is the 135th stakes-winner for champion sire Giant’s Causeway.
