Stakes-Winner for Choisir

The Listed Hannans Handicap at Kalgoorlie in Western Australia on Wednesday went the way of talented gelding Sireeze (5g Choisir x Westerly Breeze, by Dr Johnson), who scored a surprise long head win in the 1400 metre feature.

Prepared by Sharon Miller, Sireeze overcame a wide gate to score a game victory taking his overall record to five wins and 10 placings from 27 starts earning $334,741 in prizemoney.

Already a stakes-winner having won the Listed WATC TJ Smith Trophy at three, Sireeze was a $50,000 Magic Millions Perth purchase for his trainer from the draft of Queenslea Park and is the first foal of Group III WATC Oaks winner Westerly Breeze.

Sireeze is the second stakes-winner of the new season for Choisir, who stands at a fee of $29,700.
