View ArticleChoisir’s top-class son Olympic Glory is his second stakes winner from only seven foals out of ALZAO mares, and he also sired the very useful Codemaster from another grand-daughter of LYPHARD. He has a Gr.3 winner and Group-placed Listed winner from only five foals out of daughters of LINAMIX, another member of the LYPHARD line.
Choisir also has stakes winners out of mares by Northern Dancer’s sons NIGHT SHIFT and NORDICO. More mares by NIGHT SHIFT are called for, as his daughters have produced Group winners to three sons and a grandson of Danehill.
Danehill Dancer’s black-type performers out of SADLER’S WELLS mares stand in double figures and Choisir’s sire also has Group winners from mares by five of Sadler’s Wells’ sons, including GALILEO. Choisir himself sired the American Gr.1 winner Obviously from a MONTJEU mare. Choisir also had the speedy two-year-old Reckless Reward and an Australian Gr.3 winner out of grand-daughters of FAIRY KING.
As Danzig is back in the fourth generation of Choisir’s foals, it could be worthwhile trying this exceptionally sound horse with other branches of the Danzig male line. His 2013 2,000 Guineas second Glory Awaits is out of a FOXHOUND mare and is therefore inbred 4×3 to DANZIG. He also sired the useful sprinter Roker Park from a GREEN DESERT mare and the speedy Three Sea Captains from a DESERT PRINCE mare. Choisir is one of two sons of Danehill Dancer with Gr.3 winners inbred 3×3 to DANEHILL.
The NIJINSKY male line should suit Choisir very well, as another son of Danehill Dancer has sired a Gr.1 winner from a CAERLEON mare. Mares by GREEN DANCER, NINISKI, ROYAL ACADEMY, KAHYASI and HERNANDO are others high on the list. He has Australian Group winners out of mares by two sons and a grandson of NIJINSKY.
BLUEBIRD is the broodmare sire of Choisir’s talented daughter Select and Choisir also has a Gr.2 winner in Australia out of a mare by CATRAIL, a son of STORM CAT. Mares by MUJADIL produced two two-year-old Stakes winners to Choisir, including the Gr.2 winner Chandlery.
Danehill Dancer has Group winners inbred 3×3 to SHARPEN UP and others inbred 3×4 to him. Choisir’s speedy son Three Sea Captains has a second dam by SHARPO. Choisir could also be an interesting match for mares by several MR PROSPECTOR line stallions, such as MACHIAVELLIAN, LYCIUS, WOODMAN and ZAFONIC (sire of the dam of Meydan Princess). HECTOR PROTECTOR, a son of WOODMAN, is the broodmare sire of Choisir’s very useful daughter Choose Me.
Mares by INDIAN RIDGE and INCHINOR look a sure-fire means of producing smart juveniles and sprinters. Danehill Dancer sired the Classic winner Dancing Rain from an INDIAN RIDGE mare. Choisir sired the Group-winning sprinter Monsieur Joe from a mare by COMPTON PLACE, a son of INDIAN RIDGE, and his good daughter Meydan Princess has an AHONOORA mare as her second dam.
Choisir’s smart son Stimulation is out of a mare by THATCHING, who also sired the second dam of the speedy Monsieur Joe.
Another fast branch of the Hyperion male line – the SING SING branch – has supplied Danehill Dancer with the very smart sprinter Monsieur Bond (out of a SONG mare) and the high-class miler Indesatchel (out of a PETORIUS mare).
Choisir’s Gr.2-placed son, The Loan Express, is out of a mare by a grandson of SING SING, while another, Reckless Reward, has a second dam by MUMMY’S PET.
