Duke Of Marmalade filly on Classic trail

March 10, 2014

So Many Shots (3f Duke Of Marmalade-Cland Di San Dore, by Lando) ran out an impressive winners of the Premio Nanoccia, a conditions event in Rome, on Sunday and is set to be targeted at the Italian Oaks.

The quality of Duke of Marmalade’s bloodlines was amply demonstrated when his half-brother Ruler of the World won the 2013 Derby. Duke of Marmalade himself began to prove himself a worthy member of the celebrated Lassie Dear dam line, with nine first-crop three-year-olds becoming Stakes winners.

He has made a bright start with daughters of GALILEO, siring the Irish Oaks second Venus de Milo, the Listed winner Guinnevre and the Group-placed Starbright. He also confirmed his potential with SADLER’S WELLS mares, siring the wide-margin Listed race winner Alive Alive Oh.

Inbreeding to DANZIG merits consideration, as Danehill Dancer, Rock of Gibraltar, Dansili, Danetime, Holy Roman Emperor and Fastnet Rock are among the sons of Danehill which have Group winners with GREEN DESERT in their pedigrees.

The NIJINSKY line is proven too. The second dams of Duke of Marmalade’s early stakes horses include daughters of SHADEED, GENEROUS and SUAVE DANCER.

Duke of Marmalade has already sired Listed winners from mares by SHIRLEY HEIGHTS and his son DARSHAAN.

His stakes winners also include two out of mares from the KENMARE line, by VERGLAS and KELTOS.

Mares by SHARPEN UP line stallions were important in the success of Danehill and his sons. Between them they sired more than 25 Group winners from daughters of such as SELKIRK (7), DIESIS (6), KRIS (4), SANGLAMORE and TREMPOLINO.

BLUSHING GROOM and his son RAINBOW QUEST rank among the broodmare sires of Danehill’s Gr.1 winners. Now his sons are flourishing with grand-daughters of Blushing Groom, by such as RAINBOW QUEST (8 Group winners).

Daughters of INDIAN RIDGE have produced Gr.1 winners to Danehill Dancer, Clodovil and Exceed And Excel.
