Giant’s Causeway – Glatisant
Distance won over: 6f. to 8f.

A leading sire of 2yo’s and proven Gr.1 sire

Fee for 2017: €10,000

Footstepsinthesand was an unbeaten English 2000 Guineas winner at 3 and an unbeaten winner of the Gr.3 Killavullan Stakes as a juvenile. He is out of the unbeaten group winning two-year-old filly Glatisant by Rainbow Quest. On the track he displayed the same infectious will to win as his illustrious sire Giant’s Causeway, a 3-time Champion sire in North America.

His leading progeny include Gr.1 winners Chachamaidee, Shamalgan and Steinbeck, Gr.2 winners Formosina, Living The Life, Giant Sandman, Beauty Flame, Minakshi, Kaspersky, Heshem, Dragon Lips and Barefoot Lady, and Gr.3 winners Larchmont Lad, J Wonder, Sandiva, Helene Spirit, Sandy’s Charm, Arasin, Arnold Lane, Onenightidreamed, Queen Of The Sand, Rosso Corsa, Dragon Lips and Sent From Heaven.

Breeders sent Footstepsinthesand several DANEHILL mares in his first season and were rewarded with the Gr.1 winners Chachamaidee and Steinbeck and the Gr.3 winner Sent From Heaven. Now Chachamaidee’s sister J Wonder is a dual Gr.3 winner and he has 14% stakes winners with daughters of DANEHILL. Footstepsinthesand must be a leading option for more daughters and grand-daughters of the three-time champion sire.

He also has Gr.2 winners with dams by GRAND LODGE and ORPEN, a Gr.3 winner with a dam by ANABAA and Listed winners with dams by GREEN DESERT, OASIS DREAM, KEY OF LUCK and LANGFUHR.

His Gr.1 winner Chachamaidee and Gr.2 winner Living The Life have second dams by SADLER’S WELLS and Footstepsinthesand also has Group-placed performers out of daughters of ENTREPRENEUR, IN THE WINGS and KING’S THEATRE.

He also has talented performers out of mares by Nureyev’s sons FASLIYEV, PEINTRE CELEBRE, SPINNING WORLD, STRAVINSKY (Gr.2 winner Heshem) and WOLFHOUND, plus grandson PIVOTAL (Gr.3 winner Onenightidreamed).

Footstepsinthesand will also suit NIJINSKY, through the likes of CAERLEON, as his Gr.2 winner Barefoot Lady has proved.

His Gr.2 winner Kaspersky and Stakes winner Premier Steps are both out of grand-daughters of ALZAO.

His Gr.2-winning juvenile Formosina is out of a mare by ROYAL APPLAUSE, which suggests ACCLAMATION and DARK ANGEL mares should also suit.

Giant’s Causeway has enjoyed tremendous success with mares from the Mr Prospector male line, siring nearly 40 Group/Graded winners, including 17 Gr.1 winners. Footstepsinthesand has sired the Gr.2 winners Living The Life and Minakshi from MACHIAVELLIAN mares, the very useful Helene Spirit and the Gr.3 winners Queen of the Sand and Rosso Corsa from mares by WOODMAN. His ten foals out of KING’S BEST mares include the 2016 Gr.3 2yo winner Larchmont Lad, the 2016 Listed winner Fourioso and a Gr.2-placed winner, so this is working very well. Giant’s Causeway has two very good winners out of mares by sons of MACHIAVELLIAN.

Mares by DARSHAAN make increasing appeal now that Footstepsinthesand has speedy Group winners with dams by DARSHAAN and his son MARK OF ESTEEM. DALAKHANI mares are another option.

Although Blushing Groom appears twice in his pedigree, Footstepsinthesand has some black-type horses with a third line. His Gr.2-placed son Handsome Devil is inbred 3×3 to RAINBOW QUEST and his Gr.3 winner Arnold Lane is inbred 4×3 to RAHY.

The AHONOORA line could reinforce Footstepsinthesand’s juvenile ability, as he has two-year-old Listed winners out of mares by INDIAN RIDGE and his son COMPTON PLACE.

The HAIL TO REASON/ROBERTO line has considerable appeal for Footstepsinthesand. His Group winner Sent From Heaven has a second dam by ROBERTO, so is inbred 5×3 to this Derby winner, while his stakes winner Spring Leaf has a ROBERTO line dam.
