Lightning fast 2yo with a champion’s pedigree

Fee for 2016: €5,000

Dansili’s fastest 2yo – the speed to win 4 races as a 2YO – all over 5f.

Out of DAMSON, a champion 2yo filly who won the Phoenix Stakes-Gr.1 and Queen Mary Stakes-Gr.2

Requinto is a sturdy, good-looking and good-walking individual who loved to race and  he was one of the best 2yo’s of his generation in Europe over five furlongs.  He’s bred in the purple too being by Dansili and having a Gr.1 winning 2yo as his dam.  Any breeder who wants 2yo speed in a sire has to take him very seriously. ” David Wachman, trainer of Requinto

First yearlings in 2015 sold for up to €320,000

First 2yo’s already include…

  • Broken Stones, 2-time winner and 3rd in the Gr.2 July Stakes at Newmarket.
  • Groupie, dual winner. “She has got plenty of speed and we will not be frightened to drop her back to five furlongs.” Trainer, Richard Hannon
  • Warrior’s Spirit, maiden winner at Windsor. “He’s very nice. We’ll put Warrior’s Spirit away now for next year and he could well make up into a group horse,” Trainer, Richard Hannon
  • High On Love, won at Windsor. “I like High On Love a huge amount as she has always shown a lot at home.” Trainer, Charlie Fellowes
  • Little Clarinet, won a maiden at Navan. “She’s a lovely filly and is still a bit green and will improve next year…I couldn’t be happier.” Trainer, David Marnane
  • Abiento, won a maiden at Chester for Richard Fahey.
  • Blue Suede, won a maiden at Bath for Richard Hannon by 3½ lengths.
  • Kruger Park, won a maiden at York for Richard Fahey.
  • Trevanna, won a maiden at Down Royal on debut for Kevin Prendergast
  • Bismarck The Flyer, 2-time winner.
  • Porta Nuova, won on debut. “a very precocious and speedy filly, as her pedigree suggests, and she won well.” Trainer, Mico Borgato
  • Dovadola, three-time winner.
  • Akyra Magic, won the Pr. Giovanni La Frusta in Italy.
  • La Dame En Rouge won the Prix Spirit One in France.

Commercial breeders will be impressed with Requinto’s record of having won all four of his races over 5f against his own age group as a two-year-old. His victories included the Gr.2 Flying Childers and the Gr.3 Molecomb Stakes. A sensible approach would be to aim to produce smart two-year-olds and sprinters by Requinto, especially when Zoffany, another of Dansili’s fastest 2yos, was able to sire three stakes-winning first-crop 2yos at Royal Ascot.

Mares from his female family produced the Royal Ascot two-year-old Gr.3 winner Blue Dakota to NAMID, and Gr.2 winner Godfrey Street to COMPTON PLACE, another son of INDIAN RIDGE. Dansili has Group-winning daughters out of mares by INDIAN RIDGE, INCHINOR and STATOBLEST. This suggests mares with AHONOORA blood.

Other sons of Dansili have Gr.1 and Gr.2 winners inbred 4×3 to DANZIG. One of them is Zoffany, who owes much of his early success to mares from this male line. His very smart daughter Illuminate has a dam by GREEN DESERT and his Gr.2 Royal Lodge winner Foundation has a dam by POLISH PRECEDENT. Another son, the very useful Washington DC, is inbred 4×4. Two of Dansili’s Gr.1-winning daughters, Giofra and Laughing, are inbred 3×4 to DANZIG, as are Dansili’s high-class sprinter Bated Breath and his Gr.2 Gimcrack Stakes winner Shaweel. Shaweel’s second dam is by GREEN DESERT. OASIS DREAM sired the Gr.1 winner Arcano from Requinto’s family, so daughters of OASIS DREAM, CAPE CROSS, DESERT STYLE, KHELEYF and INVINCIBLE SPIRIT could be considered. These create only 4×4 to DANZIG.

A son and a grandson of DANEHILL sired those fast fillies Piccadilly Filly and Gilt Edge Girl from Requinto’s female family. Now that 3×3 inbreeding to DANEHILL has produced the high-class sprinter Hoof It and the Middle Park winner, Astaire breeders may want to try Requinto with mares by Danehill’s sons. Astaire’s dam is by Dansili.

Another precocious son of Dansili has sired a Gr.1 winner from a daughter of GALILEO. Sadler’s Wells’s three-parts-brother NUREYEV also demands consideration as Dansili sired the Arc winner Rail Link from a THEATRICAL mare and Gr.2 winner Shaweel from a PEINTRE CELEBRE mare. Dansili has a high proportion of Group winners out of PIVOTAL mares. Now Zoffany has made a bright start with PIVOTAL, siring the Irish Listed winner Argentero.

A mare by CADEAUX GENEREUX produced a Gr.1 winner to another son of Dansili. Cadeaux Genereux’s son BAHAMIAN BOUNTY and grandson PASTORAL PURSUITS are prolific sires of juvenile winners whose daughters would suit Requinto.

BLUSHING GROOM blood has done very well with some of the main elements in Requinto’s pedigree, including Dansili, Sadler’s Wells and Darshaan. A RAINBOW QUEST mare has a Gr.3 winner by another son of Dansili.

Dansili has three Gr.1 winners out of grand-daughters of MR PROSPECTOR. Mares by ZAFONIC and his brother ZAMINDAR have also had Group success with Dansili and these would create only 4×4 to MR PROSPECTOR with Requinto. GRAND SLAM is the broodmare sire of a Requinto colt which sold for €320,000.

Dansili has smart performers out of daughters of DIESIS, SANGLAMORE, KRIS and SELKIRK.

ZOFFANY sired his Gr.2 winner Waterloo Bridge from a DR FONG mare. Daughters of other speedy members of the ROBERTO line could suit Requinto. RED RANSOM sired the second dam of his €320,000 first-crop yearling.
