Zoffany is Orby star

September 17, 2017

A beautifully-connected Zoffany filly, who sold for €240,000, was one of several by the Coolmore sire to make a splash…

Zoffany was winning for the fifth time in six starts when he landed the Phoenix S. over six furlongs in August, in the process becoming Dansili’s only Gr.1-winning 2yo colt. Although he’s a member of the DANZIG male line, Zoffany owes much of his success to mares from this male line. His Gr.2-winner Illuminate has a dam by GREEN DESERT, Gr.2 winner Foundation has a dam by POLISH PRECEDENT, the Gr.1 Prix de l’Abbaye runner-up Washington D C is inbred 4×4 and the Gr.1-placed Afandem is out of an ANABAA mare.

Zoffany already has a Gr.3 winner, Dolce Strega, inbred 3×3 to DANEHILL. Bated Breath, a horse bred along similar lines to Zoffany, sired the Gr.2 2yo winner Beckford from a DANEHILL DANCER mare.

GALILEO has enjoyed great success with mares by Danehill and Danehill Dancer. It is significant that other sons of Dansili have sired dual Gr.1 winner La Collina and the promising Gavota from daughters of GALILEO. Dansili has 14 stakes winners out of daughters of Sadler’s Wells, including three Gr.1 winners. Dansili also sired the precocious Requinto from a mare by ENTREPRENEUR. Zoffany looks an automatic choice for mares by SADLER’S WELLS and his sons. Zoffany’s Asking has a dam by SADLER’S WELLS and Classic placed Architecture has a second dam by him.

Dansili sired the Arc winner Rail Link from a THEATRICAL mare and Gr.2 winner Shaweel from a PEINTRE CELEBRE mare.

Dansili has a high proportion of Group winners out of PIVOTAL mares, including the precocious Fire Lily and the Gr.1 winner Winsili. Zoffany has also made a bright start with PIVOTAL, siring the Irish Listed winner Argentero while the classic-placed Architecture is from a FASLIYEV mare. NIJINSKY’s sons ROYAL ACADEMY and SHADEED are sires respectively of the second dams of Group winners Foundation and Ventura Storm.

Zoffany’s daughter Illuminate is inbred 3×3 to MACHIAVELLIAN, his Gr.2 winners Knife Edge and Zodiac Ruler are inbred 4×4 to MR PROSPECTOR while the classic-placed Architecture is out of a mare inbred 3×3 to MR PROSPECTOR.

Zoffany benefits from more BLUSHING GROOM blood. His Group-placed Listed winner Light Up Our World is out of a mare by FANTASTIC LIGHT and his Gr.3 winner Dolce Strega has a second dam by RAINBOW QUEST. Dansili has excelled with RAHY mares, siring six stakes winners from only nine foals.

Mares with NEVER BEND blood could also shine with Zoffany. Dansili has Gr.1 and Gr.2 winners with dams by DARSHAAN and other Gr.1 winners have second dams by SHIRLEY HEIGHTS (2) and MILL REEF. Dansili also has Group winners with dams by IRISH RIVER and his son BRIEF TRUCE and Rail Link has a RIVERMAN mare as his second dam.

ZOFFANY owes his Gr.2 winner Waterloo Bridge to a DR FONG mare, putting the ROBERTO line into the picture.

Dansili has smart performers out of daughters of DIESIS, SANGLAMORE, KRIS and SELKIRK.

EFISIO mares produced two of Dansili’s Gr.2 winners and another produced a Gr.3 winner to a son of Dansili.

The AHONOORA line traditionally does well with Danehill and his sons and Dansili has Group-winning daughters out of mares by INDIAN RIDGE, INCHINOR and STATOBLEST.
