Zoffany can fairly be described as the most accomplished two-year-old sired by Dansili, one of Europe’s most dependable stallions. He’s now passing on his 2yo prowess, to the extent that three of his juveniles were successful at Royal Ascot.

Zoffany landed the Phoenix S., in the process becoming Dansili’s only Gr.1-winning 2yo colt. Zoffany also narrowed Frankel’s winning margin in the Gr.1 St James’s Palace S. to only three-quarters of a length and failed by only a head to win the Gr.1 Prix Jean Prat.

Although from the DANZIG male line, Zoffany owes much of his success to mares from this male line. His smart daughter Illuminate has a dam by GREEN DESERT and his Gr.2 winner Foundation has a dam by POLISH PRECEDENT. These two are inbred 4×3 to DANZIG, whereas his very useful son Washington DC is inbred 4×4, his broodmare sire being a son of GREEN DESERT. Zoffany’s sire Dansili also has very good winners inbred to DANZIG, including Gr.1 winners Giofra and Laughing. Dansili’s Gr.2 winner Shaweel is inbred 3×4 to DANZIG, his second dam is by GREEN DESERT. Zoffany already has the Listed placed Dolce Strega inbred 3×3 to DANEHILL.

In view of the extraordinary success Galileo has enjoyed with mares by Danehill, it’s significant that Dansili’s son Strategic Prince sired the dual Gr.1 winner La Collina from a GALILEO mare. Dansili now has 13 stakes winners out of daughters of SADLER’S WELLS, including the Gr.1 winners Flintshire, The Fugue and Passage of Time and three Gr.2 winners. Dansili also sired the fast Requinto from a mare by ENTREPRENEUR, so Zoffany looks an automatic choice for mares by SADLER’S WELLS and his sons.

NUREYEV also demands serious consideration. Dansili sired the Arc winner Rail Link from a THEATRICAL mare and Gr.2 winner Shaweel from a PEINTRE CELEBRE mare. Dansili has a high proportion of Group winners out of PIVOTAL mares, including the precocious Fire Lily and the Gr.1 winner Winsili. Zoffany has also made a bright start with PIVOTAL, siring the Irish Listed winner Argentero.

Dansili has proved to be suited by an extra line of NIJINSKY, Zoffany being a good example. But his two lines are well back in his pedigree, allowing a third line, such as ROYAL ACADEMY, broodmare sire of a very useful son of Rail Link.

Zoffany is inbred 5×4 to Blushing Groom, but there is every chance that he will benefit from more Blushing Groom. Zoffany’s Group-placed daughter Light Up Our World is out of a mare by RAHY’s son FANTASTIC LIGHT. Dansili has also sired three Group winners from RAINBOW QUEST mares. The multiple Gr.1 winner Proviso and the Gr.2 winner Ice Blue both have RAINBOW QUEST mares as their second dams, while NASHWAN sired the second dam of top sprinter Bated Breath. Dansili’s high-class son Famous Name is out of a QUEST FOR FAME mare.

Mares with NEVER BEND blood could shine with Zoffany. Dansili has Gr.1 and Gr.2 winners with dams by DARSHAAN and other Gr.1 winners have second dams by SHIRLEY HEIGHTS and MILL REEF.

Zoffany is one of three Gr.1 winners that Dansili has sired from grand-daughters of MR PROSPECTOR. With MR PROSPECTOR back in the fourth generation of Zoffany’s foals, there is no obstacle to another line. Sure enough, his smart daughter Illuminate is inbred 3×3 to MACHIAVELLIAN.

Dansili sired the Gr.1 winner Price Tag from a mare by AFFIRMED, another member of the RAISE A NATIVE male line and BERING is the broodmare sire of the brilliant Harbinger.

ZOFFANY owes his Gr.2 Norfolk Stakes winner Waterloo Bridge to a DR FONG mare, which puts other ROBERTO line mares into the picture.

EFISIO mares are responsible for two of Dansili’s Group winners, including the 2,000 Guineas second Delegator, and another produced a Gr.3 winner to Dansili’s son Rail Link. Dansili’s 1,000 Guineas winner Miss France has a dam by TIROL, and his Gr.1 winner Dank has a second dam by THATCH.

Dansili has Group winners with mares by INDIAN RIDGE, INCHINOR and STATOBLEST.

DANSILI has stakes winners out of mares by KNOWN FACT and his son WARNING.
