Stay Thirsty filly Cheval Blanche wins on debut

Stay Thirsty wins the Travers Stakes at Saratoga

Stay Thirsty (pictured) got off the mark in Britain on Tuesday when newcomer Cheval Blanche (2f Stay Thirsty-Primrose Hill, by Giant´s Causeway) won a six-furlong novices’ contest at Redcar.

Jamie Spencer rode a cool race on the Michael Bell-trained filly, coming late to get the better of her 12 rivals on the line.

It looks as if there could be better to come from the filly and the Racing Post commented: “She quickened up well from off the pace to run down the smooth-travelling runner-up, and …. there was plenty to like about the way she did it.”

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Cheval Blanche was sold for 65,000gns as a yearling at Tattersalls.

The top-class Stay Thirsty, winner of the G1 Travers Stakes, is standing for $10,000 in 2016.
