Stella first for Camelot

Stella Di Camelot (2f Camelot-Star Force, by Blu Air Force) began her career on the best possible note at Saint-Cloud on Sunday when becoming the first winner for brilliant Camelot. Vincent Cheminaud was aboard the Gianluca Bietolini-trained filly as they took control after turning for home in the six-furlong maiden, eventually prevailing by a cosy half length. Home-bred by Stefano Luciani, Stella Di Camelot is out of a sibling to top Italian juvenile Blu Constellation and comes from the family of Oratorio.

"I wanted to breed more stamina into the family and I adored Camelot, who was such a beautiful mover and had plenty of ability to win at eight furlongs and further. I fell in love with him,” Luciani told the Racing Post.

“The filly relaxed very well. It’s important that she had the ability to win over six furlongs over this track, which is not easy. She's an interesting filly and, although it is too early to say what she can do, this is a very good start.”

The great Camelot was an unbeaten G1-winning Champion two-year-old with the speed to win the 2,000 Guineas and the class and acceleration to win the Derby by 5 lengths.
