“Stunning winning debut” for Scorpion 5yo

The 10-length victory of Scorpiancer (5g Scorpion-Janebailey, by Silver Patriarch) in a point-to-point at Kildorrery on Sunday drew many plaudits and he certainly impressed the Racing Post’s race readers.

In Wednesday’s Irish Point-to-Point supplement, the paper reported that the son of Scorpion “made a stunning winning debut in the Hanley’s Butchers five-year-old geldings’ maiden”.

Trainer Eugene O’Sullivan was full of praise for the five-year-old and commented: “He’s an aeroplane and I imagine he will be going to the Cheltenham sale next month.”

Scorpiancer, a 26,000 euros store bred by Mary O’Connor, was scoring on the same afternoon that Pat Doyle’s Deputy’s Pass (5g Scorpion-Alternative Route, by Needle Gun) won the 5-y-o maiden at Bennettsbridge point-to-point for owner Barry Connell.
