Talented filly Sultry Feeling (3f Encosta de Lago x Visual Emotion, by Silver Deputy) scored a dominant first up win at Canterbury on Wednesday.
Stakes-placed behind high class fillies Bring Me the Maid and Peggy Jean in the Group II ATC Magic Night Stakes during the autumn, the Bart and James Cummings trained Sultry Feeling kicked off her spring campaign with an electric two and three-quarter length win over 1100 metres.
“She was very impressive. She was doing a lot of it on raw ability last preparation and she’s by Encosta De Lago so we’re hoping she can get over a bit further,” James Cummings said.
“She’s fleet footed and not an overly heavy filly, but she did have that bit of form at Rosehill on a wet track so we were relatively confident.
“We’ll have a good think about running in the Furious (Stakes) in two and a half weeks but we’re still in the position where we can trickle up through the grades and maybe descend on those fillies races later on.”
A Gooree Stud homebred, Sultry Feeling is a half-sister to Group III winning sprinter Swift Alliance and Group II placed New Day Rising being the last of five winners from five foals to race from Visual Emotion (USA), who died in 2012.
