Superb Washington DC takes G3 for Zoffany
Ultra-consistent Washington DC (4c Zoffany-How’s She Cuttin, by Shinko Forest) added Group race glory to his great record at the Curragh on Sunday.
The Zoffany colt captured a competitive renewal of the six-furlong G3 Phoenix Sprint under Ryan Moore to register his fifth black-type victory.
“He has a load of ability. He has loads of speed for five but it's just a little bit hard to produce him over five,” said winning trainer Aidan O’Brien. “Over six you have a little bit more time to produce him and wangle him through. He just doesn't want to be in front very long.
“He loves coming through horses. I wouldn't be ruling York (G1 Nunthorpe Stakes) out or the G1 Haydock Sprint Cup after that.”
