So You Think Colt Impresses

After showing promise when second on debut at Geelong last month, promising colt Kaching (2c So You Think x Sun Song by Desert Sun) broke his maiden in style over 1400 metres at Bendigo on Sunday.

Settled back midfield on the fence by Nicholas Hall, the Ciaron Maher-trained colt peeled out to the centre of the track on the turn and put the race to bed in a matter of strides.

Showing an impressive turn of foot, Kaching raced clear over the closing stages to win by three and a half lengths and holds an entry for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas on October 8.

"There’s a lot of potential here, he’s a pretty raw sought of horse, we’ve got some hopes for him,” said Hall.

"There was plenty of pressure, he is still doing a bit wrong, on and off the bridle, but he will get there one day.”

A $430,000 purchase out of the Willow Park Stud draft at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale, Kaching combines the blood of two modern day champions.

He comes from the first crop of the 10-time Group 1 winner So You Think and is out of the stakes-placed Desert Sun mare Sun Song a three-quarter sister to 3-time Australian Horse Of The Year and 4-time NZ Horse Of The Year, Sunline.

A full-brother to Kaching was purchased by Chris Waller for $320,000 at this year’s Magic Millions.
