Thomas Campbell scores at Ascot for Yeats

Thomas Campbell (4g Yeats-Hora, by Hernando), an easy maiden hurdle winner at Cheltenham last month, stepped up again to score in a classy event at Ascot on Friday. The Yeats four-year-old carried a penalty for his Cheltenham win but he was still able to land the introductory hurdle by four lengths under Barry Geraghty. Toby Lawes, assistant to winning trainer Nicky Henderson, said: "He is a lovely young horse. Barry Geraghty was really impressed with that. He came there and thought that was all he had got, but he gave him a couple of taps and he kept on finding." Geraghty believes there could be still more to come from the winner, who was bred by joint owners Richard and Lizzie Kelvin Hughes.

“I´d say the penny hasn't quite dropped yet. I was booked for third at the back of the second last, but when I got serious with Thomas Campbell he seemed to pick up well and he jumped the last well,” added Geraghty.
