True Blue Moon (Holy Roman Emperor) winning the Listed Rochestown Stakes at Naas

Moon high-class juvenile for Holy Roman

Unbeaten True Blue Moon (2g Holy Roman Emperor-Fancy Intense, by Peintre Celebre) confirmed himself a high-class juvenile for owner-breeder Brian Dolan when scoring at Naas on Sunday.

The son of Holy Roman Emperor won on debut at Dundalk in April and stepped up in grade to win the five-furlong Listed Coolmore War Command Rochestown Stakes.

True Blue Moon is the only horse Maynooth-based Dolan has with Joseph O’Brien and connections understandably have their sights on Royal Ascot.

“He won nicely in Dundalk but he had a little setback after that and we were a bit worried coming here. He’s quick and tries hard, and Donnacha (O’Brien) gave him a great ride. He should improve from that as he missed a week,” said the winning trainer.

“He’d have to go to Ascot after this but which race I’m not sure. I’d be inclined to stay to five furlongs as he’s quick and travels well.”
