US Stakes-Winner for Strategic Prince

Promising young sire Strategic Prince posted a new first crop stakes-winner in the US on Sunday when Tones (3c Strategic Prince x Social Honour, by Entrepreneur) captured the $81,140 Baffle Stakes at Santa Anita.

Formerly trained in the UK by Richard Hannon, Tones was having his second run stateside for new trainer Doug O’Neill and bounced back from an unplaced run on the dirt to win this six and a half furlong sprint on the turf by a neck.

A model of consistency, Tones has the overall record of three wins and four placings from eight starts.

Tones is the first winner for Social Honour, who traces back to US Grade I winner Windy’s Daughter.

He is the second first crop stakes-winner for smart sprinter Strategic Prince, the other being Group I winner and 2012 Classic prospect La Collina.
