The colours made famous by Australian Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy were carried to victory in the Listed BRC Juanmo Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday by promising mare Risk Aversion (4m Encosta de Lago x Subterfuge, by Machiavellian).
The Michael Lakey trained four year-old charged home from back in the field to take the 1200 metre sprint by half a head, her overall record an impressive five wins and three placings from just eight starts with prizemoney of $187,000.
Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Risk Aversion was withdrawn from the 2009 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and purchased privately by Hutchins Thoroughbreds.
She is a half-sister to Hong Kong Group I winner Scintillation and Group II winner and multiple Group I placed mare Shania Dane as well as stakes-placed Danevade, Liatris and Puzzle Book being from outstanding producer Subterfuge (GB).
Risk Aversion is the third stakes-winner for the well related Machiavellian mare, who was also subsequently purchased by Hutchins Thoroughbreds and has a yearling filly by Fastnet Rock and went back to the same sire last year.
Risk Aversion is the 90th stakes-winner for champion sire Encosta de Lago and is his tenth Australian stakes-winner this season.
