West Coast Juvenile Star for Scat Daddy

Unbeaten colt Amarish (2g Scat Daddy x Issues, by Awesome Again) posted his first Black Type win when scoring a dominant victory in the $100,000 William L Proctor Memorial Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park.

An easy winner on debut last month, the Jeff Bonde trained gelding was well supported to win again despite the rise in class and got the job done in impressive fashion.

He pressed the pace in transit and then moved smoothly clear in the straight to win the five and a half furlong sprint by four and a half lengths.

“He’s a very talented horse, no question about it,” said Jeff Bonde.

“In our opinion, he was pretty impressive today. Every time I try to hook him up with somebody [in the morning], he just hammers them. He’s very competitive and good minded. He walks like a horse who has done it a hundred times. We’ll have a team meeting to figure out what’s next.”

A $30,000 yearling purchase, who then made $200,000 at the OBS March 2YO Sale, Amarish is the first winner for stakes-placed Issues, who comes from the family of Grade I winner Wagon Limit.

Amarish is the seventh stakes-winner for leading young sire Scat Daddy, who sired another impressive winner at Belmont in Notmyfirstime (3c Scat Daddy x Novice, by Elusive Quality), who made it two wins from three starts when saluting in a six furlong allowance.

Notmyfirstime was a $50,000 Keeneland September purchase and is the second winner for Novice, who comes from the family of Grade II winner Pants on Fire.
