Wicked Thunder Claims Stakes

Progressive colt Wicked Thunder (3c Thunder Gulch x Wicked Looking, by Dixieland Band) posted his first stakes success when taking out the Dancing Count Stakes at Laurel on Saturday.

Trained by Gary Capuano, Wicked Thunder has been a model of consistency and was sent out second favourite for his first try at a Black Type race, settling off the lead and then challenging in the straight to score a nose win in a thrilling finish to the six furlong contest.

Wicked Thunder has the impressive record of four wins and five seconds from just nine starts with prizemoney of $112,740, a nice return for a horse that was purchased at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale for just $11,000.

Wicked Thunder is the first stakes-winner for Wicked Looking, who comes from the family of dual Group I winner The Wicked North.
