Trainer Jason Bridgman has predicted an exciting future for promising filly La Adelita (3f High Chaparral x Romantic Liaisons, by Danasinga), who made a winning debut at Matamata on Wednesday in New Zealand.
“She lacked strength in the spring as a slow-maturing type and she’ll just keep on improving from here,” he said.
Placed at the trials, La Adelita won at the first time of asking after she sat off the pace and, under a hands and heels ride from Hayden Tinsley, she finished well to score in fine style by a length.
“She’s got a really good turn of foot and the leaders were kicking on well today and they haven’t been coming from too far back so it was a good effort,” Tinsley said.
La Adelita was withdrawn from the NZB Premier Yearling Sale and is the first winner for Romantic Liaisons, a half-sister by Danasinga to stakes-winner Secret Liaisons, the dam of Australian Group I winner Reigning to Win.
She is one of a number of promising fillies for High Chaparral including recent winners Veloce Forte and Forever Loved.
