The Guillaume Macaire-trained Scorpio Imperator (3c Scorpion-Aubane, by Cadoudal) ran out an impressive winner for Scorpion on his debut at Auteuil on Friday.
The three-year-old, bred by Oliver Tricot, took a 1m 7f novices’ hurdle by three lengths under Jan Faltejsek in the colours of owner Murielle Legriffon.
Scorpio Imperator was winning five days after Scorpion was responsible for a stylish Irish point-to-point winner when the Mark O’Hare-trained Sucker Punch (4g Scorpion-Aubane, by Cadoudal) scored by four lengths at Lisronagh.
The Irish point-to-point website reported: ‘The most impressive winner of the day was the Mark O’Hare trained and ridden Sucker Punch who ran out an easy four length winner of the four-year-old geldings’ maiden. The son of Scorpion, who had finished second at Belclare earlier this month, was always prominent before sprinting clear of newcomer Andy Kelly at the line. Afterwards O’Hare said, “we really fancied him for this today following his last run and at over 16 hands’ tall he is going to make a smashing chaser for any new owner”, as he will now be offered at the Brightwells Sales.’
