Classy Camelot Filly Gets Off The Mark

The Joseph O’Brien trained Juliet Rose (3f Camelot – Subsequently, by Dalakhani) gained a deserved maiden victory when justifying favouritism at Dundalk on Friday.

The daughter of Camelot was narrowly beaten by a more experienced rival over course and distance on her second start last month. Reunited with Declan McDonogh, she raced prominently and was travelling well with two furlongs left to race. Pushed along to lead inside the final furlong, she kept on well to win by a length and a half, with another half a length back to stablemate Presgrave (Camelot) in third.

McDonogh was encouraging after the race and said, “Really it was never in doubt and she won nicely. I'm sure she'll be a nice filly on the grass, too.”

Bought by Joseph O’Brien as a yearling for 60,000gns, Juliet Rose is owned by K Al-Attiyah, M Al-Mansour and J Al-Darwich. She becomes the first winner bred by the Burns Family Stud out of Subsequently, a half-sister to two Group winners, while her second dam is unbeaten Group 3 winner Sub Rose (Galileo).
