Discoveries (Mastercraftsman) Wins The Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh

Discoveries The Latest Group 1 Winner By Mastercraftsman

Discoveries (2f Mastercraftsman - Alpha Lupi, by Rahy) provided the late Mastercraftsman with further Group 1 success when triumphing in Sunday’s Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh.

A maiden winner over course and distance in June, the full-sister to Alpha Centauri was last seen taking second in the Group 2 Debutante Stakes and was reunited with regular rider Shane Foley at Irish Champions Weekend. Tracking the leader for much of the way, she was ridden to lead inside the final furlong and kept on well to deny Agartha (Caravaggio) by three parts of a length.

Speaking after the race, Foley said, “There was no hiding place, we were skipping along, but I knew this filly had stepped forward from the Debutante. She's still quite green and had never gone that fast in her life.” An elated Jessica Harrington added, “She's a lovely filly and completely different to Alpha Centauri. We'll sit down with the Niarchos Family and have a discussion as to what she'll do next. It's very special to win this.”

Owned and bred by the Niarchos Family, Discoveries is a full-sister to the aforementioned multiple Group 1 winner Alpha Centauri (Mastercraftsman). Mastercraftsman, who sadly passed away at Castlehyde Stud last month, is now responsible for 17 individual Group 1 winners.
