Echo Town Daughters Register Gulfstream Double
It was a winning double to kick off 2025 for Echo Town with a pair of winners at Gulfstream Park on Thursday.
The fun began in the third race when Ask The Monarch (3f Echo Town x Big Bad Betty, by Mucho Macho Man) loaded into the gate for a six furlong dirt race.
Making her second career start, Ask The Monarch was quick out of the gate and set the pace two paths from the rail. Race favorite Areacodefiveoone put pressure on the filly, but she wasn’t about to let up.
Ask The Monarch had to dig in, but got the job done with a neck victory over her race rival.
Ask The Monarch is trained by Kathleen O’Connell for Perrine Time Thoroughbreds and The Haire and the Tortoise Family Farm. She was bred in Florida by Dominque Damico.
Three races later, Bugged Out (3f Echo Town x My Saving Grace, by Super Saver) got her time in the sun going just over a mile on the synthetic surface.
Looking for her second victory, the Kent Sweezey trainee ran her race much like Ask The Monarch. She was first out of the gate and happily took up the running in the two path, where she relaxed under Jorge Ruiz.
It wasn’t until the far turn that Bugged Out was encouraged and as she snapped into another gear floated a little wider into the stretch. The filly had to dig in to keep the lead, but did just that to win by three quarters of a length in the end.
Bugged Out has finished in the top three in four of her seven starts for owner Starry Night Racing with two wins in her last three races. Bred by Gustavo Ramirez, she is out of the Super Saver mare My Saving Grace.
Echo Town ended 2024 with 13 winners including two stakes winners and four stakes performers.
