First foal for Magician

Proximity (Nayef-Contiguous by Danzig) foaled a smashing bay colt at Curraghmore Farm in Canada on Wednesday morning. “He is a nice foal - good sized and correct,” said Vera Simpson, co-owner of Curraghmore Farm. “He has everything you look for in a young foal, I couldn’t fault him.” Proximity is owned by Gunpowder Farms and is a full-sister to Gr.3 winner Confront from the family of Gr.1 winners such as Reams of Verse, Elmaamul, Midday and Zafonic. “When it was announced that Magician would be going to stud at Ashford we quickly booked a handful of mares to him,” said Josh Stevens, agent for Gunpowder Farms. “We specifically booked some Danzig line mares to him which this mare carries through her dam. We felt like Magician being a multiple Grade 1 winner from a mile to a mile and a half was a great aptitude match for this mare.”

Magician proved himself one of the most talented sons of Galileo when winning the Irish 2,000 Guineas-Gr.1 and Breeders’ Cup Turf-Gr.1 and stands at Ashford Stud for $10,000.
